Photo Project
Jean and I have started a massive project to digitally scan in every film photo we have in the house. What has made this task a lot simpler is that we now have a great scanner. It’s an Epson perfection 4490 Photo scanner and it has the capability of scanning in negatives as well as slides and of course the photos themselves. The negative scans are actually better quality than the photo scans. However every little speck of dust shows up on the negative scan which makes a clean surface essential. We started with what we had with negative film since this is just a subset of the photos and then went to the photos themselves if we did not have the negatives. So far we have 1800+ photos archived and organized. I figure this is about two-thirds of our collection.
Rosalind’s Graduation
Here’s what we have of Rosalind’s graduation. We didn’t get much. The battery was worn down on my camera! I thought I had fresh ones in there. I even borrowed someone else’s batteries to get the pictures with Mr. Nguyen. Bill didn’t bring his because we thought we were covered. There is a video which we will be getting however.
Each class sang a song- all but four kids from Rosalind’s class are in the picture but their eyes are glowing. The other one shows Rosalind following Mr. Nguyen leading her class toward the stage. I was fine until they led them in playing “Pomp and Circumstance”, then couldn’t help tearing up. She was the first to get her diploma of all 5 1/2 classes. She might as well get used to that having a last name starting with A.
