Roz’s Birthday party and Halloween
Rosalind had a nice Halloween and Birthday celebration with her friends. She was a witch this year again, so it’s good we’re getting lots of use out of the same costume. We had her birthday party with her friends on Sunday and we all had a blast. It went really well. We had plenty of games and activities planned. All the kids are really good friends.

Christmas 2007
We had a great Christmas. Santa came through for us and got the family a Nintendo Wii. He knew they were hard to get but somehow obtained one and delivered it under our tree along with a couple of games. We’re been playing non-stop during our Holiday vacation. On Christmas day we had a nice Christmas dinner with family.

Rosalind’s VIP Week
Every child in Rosalind’s class gets a VIP week at some point during the school year. Most kids choose that week to correspond with the week they have their birthday. This week was Rosalind VIP treatment. One thing they do is bring in a mystery item to which the kids play a 20-questions type guessing game. They also show photos and the parents can come in and talk about what they do. Jean and I will be coming in to talk to the class on Friday. I am going to bring in my fossil collection and talk about finding Wisconsin fossils. Rosalind wrote down that that’s one of things she likes to do.
Rosalind has been doing really well in school. She’s involved in weekly piano lessons, brownie scouts, and choir at school. She was also picked to be one of the xylophone players for a recent school concert.
Here are some recent Rosalind related photos and some from her birthday today. Thank you to everyone who sent a card and/or a gift.

Lemonade Stand
Rosalind and a neighbor put together a lemonade stand this weekend. Rosalind’s second grade class is trying to raise enough money for new sand at the school’s playground. The duet made out very well for the mere hour and a half that they were at it. Between donations and lemonade sales they totaled $32.80. People were very eager to stop by and purchase lemonade from them also. One group of giggling young ladies stopped in a Hummer and handed the girls a wad of cash for some lemonade.
Jean and I might have to start selling lemonade during lean times to make ends meat.

Spring Break Vacation
For Spring break vacation we stayed one night at the Great Wolf Lodge in Wisconsin Dells. We met Beth and Teddy, Jake, Jamie and Maddy and Jamie’s sister Misty and her family. We had a great time on the unlimited water slides and other activities. The kids really had a ball too! Rosalind was able go down many of the bigger water slides including “The Tornado”. Which included a 12 foot drop on a raft. We also had a nice birthday party for Jake and Jamie’s nephew Matthew.
My only real complaint was that the Great Wolf Lodge has a problem with their billing system because they over-charged Beth on her room by $50. However, in their defense they did correct the billing error after it was pointed out at the desk that our rooms were identical but the price was different. Hmm. I think they need to look at that problem a little closer.
We stayed another night on our own at another water park. We stayed at Wilderness Lodge in the Dells. This one was over-crowded, not as clean, but much cheaper. What it gives up in quality it makes up with quantity, with 3 large water parks spread over a 1/2 mile connected through lodges and cat-walks. We ended up not even swimming at this one but Rosalind and I did have fun at the arcade and in the Laser tag maze.

Roz Reading
Rosalind is doing such a great job in school. Since getting back to school from winter break, Rosalind was tested in reading, along with all the other children in her class, and was found to be ahead in her current reading group. She went from level 5 at the beginning of the year to level 20 in the beginning of the second semester. Rosalind was very proud of herself and we’re really proud of her too. She’s now in the highest reading group in her class. Here’s a sample of Rosalind’s homework.
This is much more advanced than what I remember reading at that age!
Thanksgiving 2006 Pictures
We had a very nice time visiting family this Thanksgiving. Rosalind really enjoyed spending time with her cousin Teddy. We also got to see our new cousin Molly during the trip. She is such a nice happy baby! Here are some photos of our holiday.

Recent Rosalind Pictures
Rosalind has been enjoying the 2006 school year. She has been keeping us on our toes with all the things she’s involved in. Rosalind’s antics are the stuff that makes living in this household never a dull moment. The things she thinks up….
