MRS. JOSEPH BOWE
 
Mrs. Joseph Bowe, of this city, a resident of Chippewa county for over 70 years, passed away at St. Joseph's hospital at six o'clock Thursday evening.

Mrs. Bowe was born Catherine Stoffel on January 2, 1862, in Belgium, and she came to the United States with her parents at the age of seven years. On January 9, 1883, she was married in Tilden to Joseph Bowe who preceded her in death on April 8, 1941 as did two daughters, Mary and Clara. Mrs. Bowe is survived by ten children, Albert of Hallie; Mrs. Sub (Anna) Schindler of Unity; Mrs. William (Leon) Boos of Elk Mound; Ferdinand Eagle Point; Givig of Tilden; Mrs. Ludvick (Hildagard) Zwiefelhofer, Tilden; Adolph of Wheaton; Arthur of Tilden and Mrs. Bernard (Lidvina) Butak, city. There are 82 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Smetana of Bloomer and Mrs. Peter Meinen of Cooks Valley surviving.

Mrs. Bowe was a member of the Sacred Heart Society of St. Charles church in this city, and of the Christian Mothers Society of Tilden. She had lived on a farm in Tilden until they retired 21 years ago and moved to the city.

The remains will lie in state at the LaFrania Funeral Home from this evening until the time of the funeral. Services will take place Monday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Peter's church in Tilden, with interment in the church cemetery.

ADOLPH STOFFEL

Adolph Stoffel, 70, Town of Cooks Valley, died at his home Thursday morning.

He was born Feb. 2, 1899, in the Town of Woodmohr, the son of the late John and Theresa Stoffel. He was united in marriage to Ida Turany on July 3, 1929, and they had made their home on a farm in the Town of Cooks Valley since that time.

Mr. Stoffel was a director and secretary of the Farmers Union Co-op for 14 years; assessor for the Town of Cooks Valley for nine years, and treasurer of the Town of Cooks Valley for nine years. He also served on the board of St. John's Catholic Church for a number of years.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Bernard (Shirley) Boos of Chippewa Falls, Mrs. Robert (Eugenia) Chapman of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, one son, Stephen of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Felix (Anna) Yakish; seven brothers, Eugene, Joseph, George, and Carl of Bloomer, Leo of Rice Lake, Peter of Winona, Minn., and Father Elmer Stoffel of Saginaw, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death be one brother, William.

The concelebrated funeral Mass was held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Cooks Valley with Fr. Elmer Stoffel as Celebrant and Fr. George Becker as concelebrant. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Friends called at the Rock Funeral Home from Sunday at 2 p.m. until the time of the service. The Rosary was recited at 8:30 Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were John Yakish, John Stoffel, Eugene Geissler, Charles Stoffel, Richard Stoffel and Bernard Zwiefelhofer.

Friends and relatives attending the funeral from out of town were from Cincinnati, Ohio; Souix Falls, S. D.; Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, Colfax, Winona, Minn.; Rice Lake, North Minneapolis, Jim Falls, St. Paul, Minn.; and Saginaw, Mich.

Mrs. Anna Stoffel

Mrs. Anna Stoffel died at her home in the town of Tilden Sunday afternoon at the ripe old age of 80 years, after a residence in that town of forty-five years. She was the widow of the late Peter Stoffel and is survived by the following children: Sister Mathisa, a nun, of West Allis, Wis., Mrs. S. Dachel, Edson, Mrs. Peter Hunz, Tilden, Mrs. Joseph Bowe, Tilden, Mrs. Joseph Smetana, Mrs. Peter Meinen, town of Bloomer, Michael, Peter and John Stoffel, Tilden. The funeral will be held this forenoon from St. Peter's church in Tilden. -Independent.

Carl Stoffel

Carl B. Stoffel, 78, of Bloomer passed away Wednesday, October 13, 1999, at Bloomer Medical Center in Bloomer.

He was born October 7, 1921, in the town of Cooks Valley, Wisconsin, to John and Theresa (Meinen) Stoffel. He married Geraldine Prince November 6, 1943, at St. John's Catholic Church, Cooks Valley. He farmed in the Cooks Valley area until he retired in 1981, then moved to Bloomer. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Cooks Valley and past treasurer of the town of Cooks Valley for 18 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by four sons, Charles (Rosemary) Stoffel of Elk Mound, Daniel (Linda) Stoffel of Colfax, Richard Stoffel of Bloomer and Wayne (Deborah) Stoffel of Bloomer; five daughters, Patricia (Matthew) Schley of Clintonville, Mary Kay Stoffel of Bloomer, Carla (John) Reetz of Antigo, Ann (Jeff) Lane of Bloomer and Nancy (Jeffrey) Glanzman of Mondovi; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one sister, Anna Yakesh; and eight brothers, William, Leo, George, Eugene, Adolph, Joseph, Peter and Father Elmer.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 1999, at St. John's Catholic Church, Cooks Valley. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, October 15, 1999, at Schriver Funeral Chapel in Bloomer and an hour before services at the church. There will be an 8 p.m. Christian wake service Friday at the Funeral Chapel.

Rosemary L. Clements

Rosemary L. Clements, 71, Bloomer, passed away Saturday, February 13, 1999 in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

She was born November 25, 1927 in the town of Popple Creek to William and Kathren (Yakish) Stoffel. She married John Clements on June 23, 1948 at St. John's Catholic Church, Cooks Valley. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and activity director for the Bloomer Senior Center.

 She is survived by four sons, David (Carol) Clements, George (Vernetta) Clements, Mark (Carol) Clements and John (Dawn) Clements, all of Bloomer; daughter, Kathren (Rich) Loftus, Bloomer; brother Walmor (Ida) Stoffel of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; and sister Helen Stevens of Bloomer. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

 She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

 Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 17 at St. John's Catholic Church, Cooks Valley. Spring burial will be at the church cemetery.

 Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, February 16 at the Schriver Funeral Chapel, Bloomer and one hour before the service at the church. There will be a 4 p.m. Alter Society Rosary followed by an 8 p.m. Christian Wake Service at the funeral chapel.

Father Elmer Stoffel

Father Elmer Stoffel, 80, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 1992 at Mount Calvary Monastery, Mount Calvary, Wis.

He was born June 6, 1912 to John and Theresa (Meinen) Stoffel. Father Stoffel was ordained on June 26, 1938. Survivors include two brothers, Carl Stoffel, Bloomer and Peter Stoffel, Winona, Minn.; and one sister, Ann Yakesh, Bloomer. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brother, William, Adolph, Eugene, Leo, Joseph and George.

Services were held at Mount Calvary Catholic Church at 3:00 p.m. Friday. Interment was in Mount Calvary cemetery.

EUGENE J. STOFFEL

Eugene J. Stoffel, 77, of 1629 Smith St., Bloomer, died Saturday afternoon at Bloomer Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 6, 1900 in Woodmohr Township, the son of John Stoffel and Theresa Meinen Stoffel. He moved to Cooks Valley in 1912, where he lived and farmed until retiring in 1960, when he moved to Bloomer. He was married to Ida M. Rubenzer, Oct 29, 1934 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Tilden.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, William, Adolph and Leo.

 He is survived by his wife Ida; two stepsons, Donald P. Zwiefelhofer of Chippewa Falls and Bernard J. (Bud) Zwiefelhofer of Cooks Valley; one sister, Mrs. Anna Yakish of Bloomer; five brothers, Joseph of Colfax, George and Carl of Bloomer, Father Elmer Stoffel of L'Anse, Mich., and Peter of Winona, Minn.; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Bloomer, with interment in St. John's Cemetery, Cooks Valley. Friends may call at the Rock-Driscoll Funeral Home After 3 p.m. Monday. Parish rosary will be 8 p.m. Monday evening.

George Stoffel

BLOOMER - George J. Stoffel, 80, Boomer, died at his home after a long illness.

He was born Dec. 17, 1907 in the Town of Woodmohr, Chippewa County, to Theresa (Meinen) and John Stoffel.

George married LaVerne Bleskacek on Sept. 29, 1947 at a Monastery in Huntington, Ind.

He farmed in Cooks Valley and moved to Bloomer in 1966.

Survivors include his wife; three brother, Father Elmer, O.F.M. Capuchin, Mt. Calvary, Peter (Evelyn), Winona Minn., Carl (Gerry), Bloomer; one sister, Ann Yakesh, Bloomer; nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his parents; and five brothers, William, Adolph, Eugene, Leo and Joseph.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Bloomer with Father Thomas Langer officiating. Interment will be in South Catholic Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Driscoll Funeral Home, Bloomer, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. On Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. a wake service will be held.

Geraldine Stoffel

BLOOMER -- Geraldine M. Stoffel, 72, of Bloomer, passed away Saturday, January 23, 1999, at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire.

She was born June 26, 1926, in the town of Howard, Wisconsin to Vernon and Valborg (Solie) Prince. She married Carl Stoffel November 6, 1943, at St. John's Catholic Church, Cooks Valley, Wisconsin. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She worked at Bloomer Medical Center for 22 years as a nursing assistant. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.

She is survived by her husband, Carl B. Stoffel of Bloomer; four sons, Charles (Rosemary) Stoffel of Elk Mound, Daniel (Linda) Stoffel of Colfax, Richard Stoffel of Bloomer and Wayne (Deborah) Stoffel of Bloomer; five daughters, Patricia (Matthew) Schley of Clintonville, Mary Kay Stoffel of Bloomer, Carla (John) Reetz of Antigo, Ann (Jeff) Lane of Bloomer and Nancy (Jeffery) Glanzman of Mondovi; one brother, Eugene Prince of Colfax; one sister, Letty (Lavern) Alman of Colfax; 14 grandchildren (with one grandchild due in May) and two great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, John Prince; and one sister, Marion Prince.

 Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 27, 1999, at St. John's Catholic Church, Cooks Valley. Spring burial will be in the church cemetery.

 Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 1999, at Schriver Funeral Chapel, Bloomer and an hour before services Wednesday at the church. There will be a 7:30 p.m. Altar Society Rosary followed by an 8 p.m. Christian Wake Service Tuesday at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Peter Hunz Is Taken By Death

Mrs. Peter Hunz., a former resident of Chippewa county, died Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock at her home in St. Paul.

Mrs. Hunz was born Lena Stoffel on September 4, 1869, in the town of Tilden. She was married there (at) St. Peter's church to Peter Hunz and 28 years ago they moved to Cornell where they resided until 10 years ago when they left for St. Paul. Her husband preceded her in death two years ago, and she is survived by the following children, Mrs. Edward Phelan, Ida and Ermine all of St. Paul, Caroline, Alphonse, Herman and Leon of Chicago, and Herbert of Chippewa Falls. Also surviving are two grandchildren.

The remains will arrive in Chippewa Falls Thursday morning at 10:40 o'clock and will be taken to the Bennett-LaFrania Funeral Home where they will lie in state until the hour of the funeral. Services will be held Friday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Peter's church in Tilden.

Irma Stoffel

Irma M. Stoffel, 88, a resident of the Rutledge Home, Chippewa Falls, formerly of the town of Tilden, died Thursday, September 16,1999, at the home.

She was born February 10, 1911, in Tilden the daughter of Valentine and Anna (Meinen) Miller. She graduated from St. Peter's Grade School, McDonell High School and Sacred Heart School of Nursing. She was a RN at St. Joseph's Hospital and the Northern Center for the Developmentally Disabled. She married Albert J. Stoffel on January 29, 1935, at St. Peter's Church in Tilden. She was a member of Christian Mother's Society, Chippewa County Historical Society, charter member of Chippewa County Genealogical Society and St. Peter's Church.

She is survived by three sons, Francis (Kathleen) and Clarence (Diane), both of Tilden, and Clement (Patricia) of Sussex; two daughters, Marion (Richard) Anderson of Brookfield and Beth (Steve) Ashley of Bloomer; one brother, Vincent Miller of Cadott; two brothers-in-law, Charles Zwiefelhofer of Chippewa Falls and Sylvan Zenner of Spencer; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. on May 3,1995; her parents; four brothers, Art, Fred, Bertram and Edward Miller; and one granddaughter, Paula Stoffel.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday, September 20, 1999, at Peter's Church in Tilden. Reverend William Felix will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in Tilden. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 1999, at Horan Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls and an hour before the services on Monday at St. Peter's Church in Tilden. There will be a Christian Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

John Stoffel Called To Great Beyond

The community was saddened by the death of John Stoffel, who passed away at his home in Cooks Valley on Friday evening. He underwent an operation a year ago at the Chippewa hospital, from which he never fully recovered and he has been in poor health for the past year.

John Stoffel was born in Belgium, May 11, 1866, and came to America with his parents at the age of two years. For several years the family lived in the town of Tilden, where he was united in marriage to Theresa Meinen, Oct 13, 1896. In 1912 he sold his farm to Gust Kelm and purchased the Z. C. Willis farm in Cooks Valley, where he has since resided.

Mr. Stoffel is survived by his wife and ten children, as follows: William of Popple Creek, Leo of Eagle Point, Adolph, Eugene, Joseph, Anna, George, Peter, Norbert and Carl all living at home. He is survived by two brothers Peter of Woodmohr and Nick of Tilden, and five sisters, Mrs. Joseph Bowe, Mrs. Sebastian Dachel, Mr. Peter Huntz, Mrs. Peter Meinen and Mrs. Jos. Smetana Sr.

The funeral was held on Tuesday morning at St. John the Baptist church in Cooks Valley, Rev. Chas. Rudolph officiating. Interment was made in the church cemetery. Those from a distance who were here for the funeral: Norbert Dachel, Wisconsin Rapids; William Meinen, Milwaukee; Albert Bowe of Lafayette; Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Bowe of Chippewa Falls and several other relatives and friends from Tilden, Wheaton, Bloomer and other surrounding points.

JOSEPH E. STOFFEL

Joseph E. Stoffel, age 76 years, a resident of the Colfax Nursing Home for several years, died Monday morning, October 22, 1979, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire.

He was born May 17, 1903 in Woodmohr township, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Stoffel. He was united in marriage to Clara Gruhn June 9, 1936, at St. John's Catholic Church, Cooks Valley.

He farmed for three years in Cooks Valley and moved to Bloomer in 1939. He worked at the canning Factory and at the Bloomer Mill for many years. He retired in 1965. He was a past member of the Mosse Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter in infancy, four brothers, William, Adolph, Leo and Eugene.

He is survived by his wife Clara; one son, John, of Bloomer and one daughter, Sister Mary Jo S.D.S. of Tilden; three grandchildren and four brothers, George and Carl of Bloomer, Father Elmer Stoffel of L'Anse, Michigan, and Peter of Winona, Minnesota; one sister, Mrs. Anna Yakish of Bloomer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10:00 o'clock a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Bloomer. Interment will be in St. john's Catholic Cemetery, Cooks Valley. Friends may call at the Rock-Driscoll Funeral Home after 3 p.m. Wednesday. Parish rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday evening.

LEO H. STOFFEL

Leo H. Stoffel, 69, passed away Sunday evening at the Lakeside Methodist Hospital. He had made his home in Rice Lake for the past 18 years.

He was born December 9, 1901 in the Town of Tilden, son of John and Theresa Stoffel. He moved with his parents to the Town of Cooks Valley when he was a boy. He was united in marriage to Margaret Stienmetz at St. John's Catholic Church in Cooks Valley. In 1932 they moved to Bloomer where he was employed by the Chicago Northwestern railway. In 1953 he was transferred to Rice Lake where he since resided.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Railroad Brotherhood of Maintenance.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Burton (Bernetta) Hable, Madison; one sister, Mrs. Felix (Anna) Yakish, Bloomer; six brothers, Eugene, Joseph, George and Carl, Bloomer, Peter Winona, Minn., Rt. Rev. Father Elmer, O.S.M., Darago, Mich.

Funeral Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Bloomer with Rt. Rev. Father Elmer officiating. Interment was in the North Catholic Cemetery.

The pallbearers were Earl Seckora, John Stoffel, Delmar Seckora, John Yakish, Daniel Stoffel, Robert Yakish.

The Parish Rosary was recited at 8:30 and the Catholic Order of Foresters said the Rosary at 9 o'clock Tuesday evening at the Rock Funeral Home.

MICHAEL STOFFEL

Michael Stoffel, aged 74, died at St. Joseph's hospital Friday, October 12, at 4 p.m., following complications of a fractured hip.

He was born May 4, 1871, in the town of Tilden and had lived there all his life. He had a large circle of friends in this community and was very active until the last week.

On April 12, 1904 he was married to Elizabeth Hansen of Bloomer at Holy Ghost church by Rev. Roth. He is survived by his widow, one son Albert at home, six daughters, Mrs. John Zwiefelhofer, Mrs. Charles Zwiefelhofer, Mrs. Agnes Miller, Mrs. Sylvan Zenner, Mrs. Herman Bohl, all of Tilden, Mrs. Frank Libersky of Bloomer; twenty-three grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Catherine Bowe of Chippewa Falls, Mrs. Emily Meinen, Cooks Valley.

The remains will lie in state at the LaFrania Funeral Home Saturday evening and will be taken to the farm home Sunday at 2 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 o'clock Tuesday morning at St. Peter's church in Tilden with Rev. R. Raschke officiating.

Peter Stoffel Dead

Peter Stoffel, beloved pioneer farmer of the Bloomer community, died at his farm home in the town of Woodmohr on Monday morning, Feb. 21st. He had been in failing health, due to the infirmities of age, for some time past.

Peter Stoffel ws born in Belgium, Jan. 11, 1860 and was 84 years, 1 month and 10 days old. He came to America with his parents when eight years of age, settling at once in the town of Tilden. There he grew to manhood and in 1892 was married to Theresa Harings. To this union was born seven children, one of whom preceded him in death. Mrs. Stoffel passed away in 1933. Surviving are four daughters and two sons: Adelaide Stoffel of Chippewa Falls, Mrs. Harry Lloyd of Eau Claire, Sister M. Theodore, O. S. M. of Washburn, Wis., Mrs. Casper Steinhagen of Waconia, Minn., Theodore Stoffel of Woodmohr and Bernard Stoffel of Cooks valley. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Katherine Bowe, of Tilden, Mrs. Anna Meinen and Mrs. Theresa Smetana of Woodmohr; one brother, Michael Stoffel of Tilden, and four grandchildren.

Following the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Stoffel they moved to a farm in Woodmohr where the deceased has since resided. He has served in various offices in his town and was for a time a member of the county board. He was a devoted church man and for many years was an officer in the Catholic Knights and other organizations of the church. By hard work and conservative habits he had become a substantial farmer and his advice and co-operation were always eagerly sought after. He was one of the community's outstanding citizens.

Funeral services were held at St. John's Catholic church in Cooks Valley this (Thursday) morning at 9:30 o'clock with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. Fr. Frank Knopp officiated.

THERESA SMETANA RITES

Funeral services for Mrs. Theresa Smetana were held at the Rock Funeral Home in Bloomer and at the St. Paul's Catholic church there at 9:30 o'clock this morning, with Msgr. Paschal Hirt officiating. Interment was in the South Catholic cemetery.

The deceased was born Theresa Smetana on May 17, 1875, in the town of Tilden. On May 19, 1903, she was married to Joseph Smetana at St. Peter's church in Tilden. She resided in the town of Woodmohr until her death at St. Joseph's hospital in this city on January 31st. Her husband preceded her in death in 1935.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Frank (Mary) Schneider of Tilden, and Mrs. Phillip (Lucille) Schneider of Wheaton; four sons, Raymond and Albert of New Auburn; Erwin of Bloomer, and Jerome of Hastings, Minn.; one sister, Mrs. Emily Meinen of Cooks Valley, and 14 grandchildren.

Pallbearers at the funeral this morning were James, Thomas and Wm. Smetana, Gilbert Meinen, and Theodore and Albert Stoffel. Relatives and friends from Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, Stanley and Wisconsin Rapids attended the services.

MRS THERESA STOFFEL

Mrs. Theresa Stoffel, 74, passed away suddenly at St. Joseph's hospital in Chippewa Falls Thursday morning. She was born Theresa Meinen, on June 11, 1877, in Tilden, where she grew up, and on Oct. 13, 1896 she was united in marriage to John Stoffel in St. Peter's church in Tilden. She made her home in Tilden until 1914, when she moved to a farm in the town of Cooks Valley, where she resided until seven years ago, when she moved to Bloomer and resided with her son, Joseph. She was a member of the Christian Mother's Society and the Franciscan Order. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1929.

Mrs. Stoffel is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Felix (Anna) Yakish, of Cooks Valley; nine sons, the Rev. Father Elmer, of Huntington, Ind., William, Adolph, Eugene, George and Carl, of Cooks Valley, Joe and Leo of Boomer, and Peter of Winona, Minn. She is also survived by two brothers, Louis Meinen of Chippewa Falls and Joseph of Eau Claire, and 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Theresa Stoffel were held at the Rock Funeral Home and at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Bloomer Saturday morning at 9:30 o'clock with the Rev. Elmer Stoffel, O. F. M. as celebrant officiating at the solemn High Requiem Mass. Reverend Stoffel was assisted by Rev. N. W. Thomas of Athens as Deacon. Sub Deacon, Rev. Leo Novitt, O. F. M., of Cooks Valley. Master of ceremonies, Rev. P. Hollern of Bloomer, Acolyte, Robert Yakesh, Stephen and John Stoffel, all grandchildren of the deceased. Rev. Raschke of Tilden was also in attendance.

Interment was made in the St. John's cemetery in Cooks Valley. Pallbearers were all Nephews of the late Mrs. Stoffel, Gregory, Gilbert, Julius, Roman, Edmund and Walter Meinen.

Out of town relatives and friend attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Louis Meinen, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bowe, Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Bowe, Mrs. Bernard Butak, Mr. Joseph Herbert, Mr. and Ms. Homer Hebert, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Herbert, Louis Herbert, Mrs. William Herbert, Mrs. P. J. Murphy, Robert Schultz, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Barthiaume, Misses Ramona and Charlotte Yakesh, Helen and Shirley Stoffel, all of Chippewa Falls; Bernetta Stoffel of Cadott, Henriette Meinen of Athens, George Yakesh and daughter, Peter Stoffel and family of Winona, Minn.

WILLIAM STOFFEL

William Stoffel, 71, of 1616 17th Avenue, died early Saturday at the Bloomer Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Stoffel was born July 14, 1897 in the Town of Woodmohr. He married Kathryn Yakish on Nov. 13, 1923. They farmed in the Towns of Grant and Cooks Valley, and upon retirement moved to Bloomer in 1959. He served on the school board of Cooks Valley for a number of years.

Survivors are his wife; one son, Wolmar, Wappingers Falls, N. Y.; two daughters, Mrs. John Clements, Cooks Valley, and Mrs. Ronald Stevens, Rt. 5, Chippewa Falls; eight brothers, Father Elmer, Saginaw, Mich.; Adolph, Eugene, Joseph, Carl, and George all of Bloomer, Leo, Rice Lake, and Peter, Winona, Minn.; a sister, Mrs. Felix Yakish, Bloomer; and 13 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 9:00 a.m. Monday from St. Paul's Catholic Church with Father Joseph Ferron officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Cooks Valley.

Friends called Sunday at the Rock Funeral Home from 2 p.m. until time of the service Monday.

STOFFEL

Katherine Stoffel, 81, Bloomer, died at Bloomer Memorial Hospital Monday afternoon.

She was born April 2, 1898 in Cook's Valley, daughter of John and Anna (Pecha) Yakish. She married William Stoffel, Nov. 13 1923 in Cooks Valley. They farmer there until 1959, when they moved to Bloomer.

She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and the Rosary and Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter Sylvia; son George; sister Mary Cullen; and three brothers, Felix, George, and John Yakish.

Surviving are one son, Wolmar, Wappinger Falls, N. Y.; two daughters, Mrs. John (Rosemary) Clements, Route 2, Bloomer, Mrs. Helen Stevens, Bloomer; one brother, Vern Yakish, Seattle, Wash.; one sister, Mrs. Oscar (Lillian) Hassemer, Route 1, Bloomer; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Bloomer. The Rev Joseph Ferron will officiate. Interment will be in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Cook's Valley.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. Wednesday to the time of service Thursday at the Olson Funeral Home, Bloomer. The Rosary and Altar Society will say the rosary at 4 p.m. Wednesday. A parish rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
